VIII · Major Arcana

Strength

Upright

courage, patience, gentleness, mastery

A woman closes a lion's jaws with her bare hands, and she is not straining. That is the point — this card's power is the kind that does not need to overpower. Upright, Strength is the courage that stays soft: patience with something wild in you or near you, handled steadily instead of caged. It is slower than force and it is the only thing that works.

Reversed

self-doubt, forcing it, raw nerve

Reversed, the gentleness is gone and the lion knows it. This can be doubt eating away at real capability, or the attempt to muscle through something that only yields to patience. It often shows up when you are being harder on yourself than you would dream of being on anyone else in the same position.

Every draw here is a real quantum draw — Strength is one of the 78 you might get, and a friend of your choosing reads it aloud.
