XIII · Major Arcana
Death
Upright
endings, transformation, clearing the ground
The most feared card in the deck and almost never literal. Death is the ending that makes room — a chapter genuinely finished, not paused. Upright, it says the thing you are trying to keep alive is already over, and the mercy is in admitting it. What follows is not decline but transformation, and it does not begin until you stop resuscitating.
Reversed
clinging, stalled change, fear of the end
Reversed, the ending is being resisted, and resistance is the source of the pain rather than the ending itself. You may be holding a relationship, a role, or a version of yourself long past its life. The card is not unkind about this — letting go is genuinely hard — but it is clear that the transformation waits on your hands opening.
Every draw here is a real quantum draw — Death is one of the 78 you might get, and a friend of your choosing reads it aloud.
