XVII · Major Arcana
The Star
Upright
hope, healing, renewal, quiet faith
After the Tower, the Star: a woman pours water by starlight, one foot on land and one in the pool, entirely unguarded. This is hope after the worst has already happened, which is the only kind worth much. Upright, it promises healing that is gradual and real, and asks you to stay open — the vulnerability is not naivety here, it is the condition of recovery.
Reversed
discouragement, faith worn thin, closing up
Reversed, the light is hard to see. Hope feels foolish, and the natural response is to armor up so nothing else can land. The card does not scold this — it is a reasonable reaction to a hard stretch — but it does note the cost, which is that the same closing that blocks disappointment blocks the healing too.
Every draw here is a real quantum draw — The Star is one of the 78 you might get, and a friend of your choosing reads it aloud.
