Ten of Swords

Swords is the suit of air — thought, conflict, and the truth told plainly.

Upright

rock bottom, the end of it, ruin and dawn

A figure lies face down with ten swords in his back, and there is light on the horizon. This is as bad as it gets — final, theatrical, and genuinely over. Upright, the card's odd comfort is that nothing further can be done to this: the only direction left is up.

Reversed

recovery, dragging it out, slow rising

Reversed, the worst has passed and the getting-up begins, slowly. It can also mean resisting an ending that has already happened, or removing the swords one at a time — recovery that is real but nothing like quick.

Every draw here is a real quantum draw — Ten of Swords is one of the 78 you might get, and a friend of your choosing reads it aloud.
