She sits at the water's edge gazing into an ornate closed cup, entirely absorbed. This is feeling as mastery — the person who reads a room instantly and holds other people's difficulty without drowning in it. Upright, it asks for compassion, including the kind you extend to yourself.
Reversed
absorbing others, martyrdom, boundaries dissolved
Reversed, the empathy has no edges. Other people's moods become yours, care becomes an identity, and the well runs dry in service of everyone but you. It also catches the opposite: shutting the whole channel down because feeling it all became unbearable.
